What is the Mandatory Disclosure Form?

The first time you meet with a real estate licensee face-to-face to discuss a specific property, they are required by law to present a "Mandatory Agency Disclosure" to you. This document is a disclosure of exactly whom the agent is representing, and is for your protection. It is not a contract and does not bind you to the agent nor any property you are discussing with them.
The agent must have the disclosure properly filled out, including their real estate license number and type, how agency relationships are handled within their office, and which party the agent is representing. It is then signed and dated by the agent, and you are asked to sign and date as well to evidence that the document has indeed been properly presented to you.
It is important that you understand the different types of agency, so that you may decide which is right for you.
